Our beautiful country
During your elective in Edinburgh you will have time to explore some of Scotland with its amazing loch’s and glens, countless monroes that provide world-famous walking and climbing opportunities, scores of castles and lots of haggis wandering in the hills! Visit Scotland’s guide.
All three EDs are able to offer a small number of high quality elective placements for up to 4 weeks for final year medical students from the UK, Europe or the rest of the world. Each student will be allocated an individual consultant supervisor for their placement and will be expected to blend in with the Edinburgh medical students including attending tutorials and working shifts.
International students need to be able to speak English to a reasonable level, see link for regulations
Students are not charged for their elective placements but are responsible for financing travel, accommodation and living costs. More details can be found here.
